All accommodations, coach travel throughout, breakfast and entrance fees, as well as special insights into Ireland you won’t find elsewhere. On a typical tour, dinners will be included on all but two nights when travelers will be free to spend time on their own. We will make recommendations upon request. Airfares are not included.

What currency will we be using?

Euros. The Republic of Ireland uses the Euro, while Northern Ireland uses Pound Sterling. Our “On the Trail of Brian Boru” travels exclusively in the Republic of Ireland.

What will the weather be like?

Depending on the time of year, high temperatures can range from 55-75 degrees F. We recommend bringing a light rain jacket and hiking boots, with a sweater or fleece at all times of the year.

Is it safe?

Very. While the island has had a tumultuous history at times, the Republic of Ireland is a progressive, modern country in the European Union. Even the North has moved on from its Troubles to become a thriving corner of the British Isles.

Is there a time difference?

Yes. The Republic of Ireland is on GMT, five hours ahead of EST.

How about my cell phone?

Cell phones will generally work, depending on the carrier or plan, although they may add surcharges if you don’t let them know in advance. Please consult your carrier before travelling.

Should I take out travel insurance?

Tara’s Travels does not offer travel insurance but does recommend it.

Which airlines travel to Ireland?

We do not have any arrangement with Norwegian Airlines, formal or otherwise, or with any other airline. We choose Norwegian since they are the most affordable, and there are scheduling advantages that come from identifying one airline. From New England, we have flown to Ireland on Norwegian, Aer Lingus and Delta. Tara can help source air travel if needed.
